Make The Cards Challenge #39: Sketch

Hi hi! I’m guesting today for the Make the Cards Challenge #39! If you’re unfamiliar with it, the challenge goes live each Wednesday with a fresh and new theme. This week, we have a sketch as the jumping-off point!

And this is what I came up with.

I was cleaning my desk off to make this card when I came across the silver foil paper. It’s from CutCardStock. Usually, I cut down any whole sheets of paper I have in the A2 panels. Then, they’re ready to go when I need to pick colors for my projects. Of course, my favorite embossing folder (Botanical from Tim Holtz/Sizzix) was still on the desk, too, from this post. I thought the silver paper would look fabulous as an embossed background.

For a frame element, I chose a scalloped rectangle frame die from My Favorite Things and adhered it in place with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. I wasn’t sure if it would stick to the silver paper because of the finish, but that glue never ceases to amaze me. Still my favorite liquid adhesive!

The sentiment comes from a set called “Because You” from My Favorite Things. I think it may be retired now, but I kept it since collecting sentiments is a prob.. ahem, it’s a hobby I have. 🙂

You can always use a favorite sentiment set from your stash; a lot will go with this design.

After stamping the sentiment and embossing it in Classic Silver, I added the die-cut word to the black cardstock just above the stamped part. Then, I fussy cut the whole thing. Then it would stand out against the background. Because let’s face it, that’s a LOUD design when it’s embossed in metallic! I attached it with some foam squares.

To finish up, I added the panel to a 110lb Neenah Classic Crest card base, and it’s complete!

Thanks so much for popping in today! Pin this to your Pinterest inspiration board, then return to the Make the Cards Challenge #39: Sketch. Submit your take on this sketch, we wanna see what you create!
