August Whimsy Stamps Release Day 2: Cherry Blossom Background

It’s Day 2 of the August release at Whimsy Stamps! Today I have for you a painted card made with the new Cherry Blossom Background stamp.

I know they are usually pink and white, but I took artistic license on this one 🙂

I used a flat brush to create a light-colored wash over the stamped design (which I did with Staz-On, it’s waterproof) using Dr. Ph. Martin’s Spectralite Liquid Acrylic in Aqua. It’s not technically watercolor paint, but it behaves much the same way when you work with it.

Once the paper was dry, I went back in and painted another layer over each flower, concentrating the color in the center. When they were dry, I added a diluted Grass Green to the leaves and flowers and Dark Walnut for the branches.

To add a little shine, I popped a few dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bottle Green to each of the flower centers.

The sentiment is stamped with Versafine CLAIR in Pinecone. I trimmed it with a Stitched Oval die and adhered it directly to the card front.

Thank you for taking a look at my cherry blossom background card for the August Release today! As always, feel free to pin this card to your inspirations board on Pinterest – I appreciate it very much!
