Saying Hello with Embossed Florals From AltenewHey there! How’s your day going? Inspired and creative, I hope!

It’s been cold and rainy here in Texas for much longer than usual this year. Even as I’m writing this, I’m huddled up in a blanket with a hot coffee! I think that’s why I love floral crafts. Lately, it reminds me that spring is coming soon.

Today’s card features some lovely embossed florals from Altenew. They have some super nice stamp sets available, both outline style for coloring and solid images like the ones on the card below.

You need a really smooth cardstock like Neenah Classic Crest to get a clean impression with these stamps. Otherwise, your images will look grungy or distressed.

Your Six Supplies

  • VersaMark Embossing Ink
  • Frosted Garden Stamp Set, Altenew
  • Navy Embossing Powder, Ranger
  • Silver Embossing Powder, Ranger
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops, Silver Lining
  • Double Stitched Frames, Honey Bee Stamps

Put It Together

I started with the biggest flower in the corner so I could build a pattern around it with smaller images. To make sure I got it in the right place, I used a MISTI and stamped it down with Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Ink. If you don’t have any of that, Versamark is your best bet for a great image.

As I continued my pattern, I heat embossed along the way to avoid any powdery messes.

From there, I used the smaller flower and leaf images to fill in any blank spots. For balance, I created a triangle-shaped design along two sides of the card (from the top left to the bottom right).

Once all the heat embossing was finished, I used the largest stitched rectangle die to trim the edges and attached the panel to a piece of Classic Crest Pewter Grey that was cut to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8-inches.

Note: I find it’s best to heat emboss first and mat second, just in case you accidentally warp your cardstock with the heat gun. That way, the flat cardstock on back will help counteract the waviness of the front 🙂

To add a little extra something, I dabbed several silver pearls in and around the flowers with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Silver Lining. To make them nice and round, keep the bottle straight and vertical as you lift up.

Finishing Up

After they were dry, I added the sentiment. It is heat embossed too, but this time I used a silver embossing powder instead of the navy blue for the flowers. Gosh, I love how good the powders melt on Classic Crest cardstock! Just look at those metallics!
